In collaboration with the talented visual artist, Erin Schantz-Hilton, Annalee 

is offering a live virtual workshop in Art and Words, an immersive class experience to tap into our innate creative selves. 

​

This ongoing series aims to inspire a practice of spontaneous creativity within a theme of seasonal inner shifts. The co-teachers bring decades of combined experience in visual art, writing, teaching, and interdisciplinary studies into a vibrant workshop brewed from years of an active relationship with the arts.

 

This is a series with a golden thread that runs through these offerings, but each workshop can be taken independently.

This workshop asks us to go inward. Prompted by Winter and the Earth’s life force nestled underground, awaiting the resurgence of Spring, humans too find themselves in a space unique to the season. Attendees will connect with the bears moving into hibernation, dreaming the world, and immerse with the elements within this dream-state. 

Annalee and Erin begin this special workshop with the simple tools of water, paper, ink or fluid paint, allowing the alchemy of materials to create an image which, once dry, we read into as a divination tool. Shapes emerge in lights and darks, creating a narrative of our own discovery, a reading of our future similar to tarot or tea leaves.

Dream-like writing prompts connect us with language which reveal our inner state and our desires—what will we do when we awaken from this dream? By painting and writing on our cave walls by firelight, we connect with our own spirits and ask for guidance in our lives.
