ABOUT US

Founded as the Tiny Onion Cooking School in 2016 by Annalee Dunn, Tiny Onion is an independent & interdisciplinary business & hobby farm creating opportunity for a diverse menu of experiential learning, collaborative teaching, and community-driven possibilities around the creative arts, healthy choices, and self-expression.

Annalee's two children were small and she needed to supplement her income with work that allowed children to be alongside her. She relied on her years of cooking experience and childcare and began teaching kids to cook out of her own home in Bellingham, WA. as well as eventually partnering with local schools, camps and organizations to offer many classes to kids (and adults!) in the community all these years. Tiny Onion has remained a segment of Annalee's life as she works in other areas of education and consulting. Recently she and her kids blended families with her now husband (an artist and builder and educator) and the family of five now run a small hobby farm in Ferndale, WA where the next phase of Tiny Onion can bloom!

Teaching the basics of home-cooking techniques to kids has been an incredible joy and opportunity. Tiny Onion offers the same attention as always to creative, hands-on cooking, art, gardening, life skills, and more, in a variety of classes and camps for children and adults. Summer camps highlight healthy eating, garden experience, fun crafts, and outdoor education. Future plans  expand to year-round programming, a farm stand for produce and art, and continued collaborations and partnerships with area growers and makers. Our focus continues to celebrate vibrant agriculture, food resources, and other small businesses & artists.

We also offer a variety of virtual & live classes beyond the farmstead. We might pop-up with catered delicious food at a local event, or find us teaching adults how to access their creative inner voice in virtual & in-person gatherings and workshops in writing and crafts, eventually we hope to host farm concerts! The eclectic nature of what Tiny Onion can be is what motivates us to live vibrant & intentional lives in a world in need of MORE art, connection, expression, and good food...
